Three U.S. operators plan to inject 100 million U.S. dollars to boost mobile payment service

According to foreign media reports, the United States’ three largest mobile networks Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile USA are currently planning to inject $100 million into their joint ventures. The joint venture named Isis specializes in mobile payment services.

The insider of the project told Bloomberg News reporters that the three mobile networks may inject billions of dollars into this joint venture (but only if Isis must win users), aiming to keep up with Google earlier this year. Mobile wallet platform launched at the time.

The purpose of Isis is to allow consumers and businesses to use mobile commerce - consumers and merchants can make point-of-sale sales using mobile phones using near field communication technology.

Earlier this year, Isis announced Salt Lake City, Utah, and Austin, Texas as the first pilot markets. It is expected that mobile payments will be officially launched in the first half of 2012 with the support of all four payment networks.
