Skyworth cuts 900 million yuan into chip market

The foreign-funded enterprises represented by Samsung rely on the advantages of scale to sign "guaranteed" supply agreements with chip manufacturers in advance, further aggravating the current shortage of supply of domestic chip companies. Yang Dongwen, chairman of Skyworth Group, said that since the beginning of this year, LED chips have been used as backlights for LCD TV panels, and they have also been a major factor in the growth of demand for LED chips. The LED chip market will explode in the second half of this year, and it is expected that the LED chip will also be in short supply.

iSuppli analysis believes that LED backlighting and other advanced TV architectures are increasingly being used in LCD TVs, which will make 2010 the most intense supply and demand of global TV chips in history. Seeing this business opportunity, Skyworth has not only advanced into the upstream chip field, but Tsinghua Tongfang has also started this field.
