Power Integrations, Inc. announced the availability of an updated version of its power design software, PI Expert Suite 9.0. The new software now includes design support for its LinkSwitchTM-PL and LinkSwitch-PH LED driver ICs, as well as the recently introduced TinySwitchTM-4 offline switch IC product line. V9.0 also comes with an enhanced schematic processing tool that allows designers to upload the final BOM created by the automatically generated schematic layout to selected leading distributors that meet their design needs.
PI Expert Suite 9.0 significantly reduces the design time of the first prototype and significantly reduces the number of prototype iterations required before the finished product is completed, further enhancing the productivity of the power supply design team. The software now includes design support for solid-state lighting products that enable constant current, dimming, and harmonic emission optimization for LED designs.
As in the previous version, PI Expert Suite 9.0 is capable of generating complete power circuit schematics, providing power transformer optimization techniques, and even specifying transformer designs and providing links to wire-wound component manufacturers. The heat sink calculation tool provides designers with an estimated thermal design requirement for the new power supply, which can be used to guide the layout and determine the mechanical prototype to avoid design iterations and wasted time. Provides more efficient PCB layout recommendations based on selected devices and packages, helping designers reduce EMI caused by traces and reduce board space while enhancing electrical noise immunity and surge immunity.
