[91 split] Nirvana's reborn son - Nexus 5X dismantling

LG foundry Nexus5 as Google's best-selling "pro-son" has been widely praised by the majority of Android enthusiasts, excellent design, low prices, and has a Google native system blessing, for a time to become the benchmark for Android phones, Nexus 5 It has also become one of the highest-selling Android models in 2013/2014, and the pro-sons of that year have had a head start.

Google originally launched the Nexus series in order to provide Android developers with a top-level but low-cost development tester, so the sales of the parent-child series continued to be tepid, until the LG OEM Nexus4, his first son put on a Beautiful shell, the "Sparkling" glass back cover of his playful technology is deeply loved by users.

Only in the sun can you experience the charm of this glittering glass back cover of Nexus 4.

Although the Nexus5 does not continue the glass cover of the four sons, its shape still maintains the Nexus series style, coupled with a very cost-effective and smooth Google native system, so it is reasonable to be loved by Android fans. It's no exaggeration to say that Nexus5 is the most loved one.

Since then, his own son Nexus6 has been replaced by Google's Moto foundry. However, the Nexus6 is large in size and high in price. Its AMOLED screen has problems such as low brightness, and its sales are not as good as those of the Nexus5. Many Android users have even hoped that Google can re-introduce the 5-inch Nexus phone after experiencing the disappointment of the Nexus6. In 2015, Google changed course using a large-size and small-sized dual Nexus. The Huawei Nexus 6P was manufactured by Huawei. The 5-inch parent who was loved by the user once again returned to the embrace of LG. The new appearance of the new configuration is new. The name, today let us see how Nexus 5X is born again.

Before moving the Butcher knife, let's first look at how the Nexus 5X has its configuration:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 1.8GHz Six-core 64-bit CPU and Adreno 418 GPU

12.3 megapixel rear camera, laser-assisted autofocus, supports 4K video; front camera is 5 megapixels

2 GB of LPDDR3 memory, 16 GB or 32 GB internal storage

5.2 inch Full HD 1920×1080 IPS screen with 423 PPI

USB Type-C interface and fast charging

Nexus Imprint Fingerprinting

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Marshmallow

The bottom of the 5X is the USB Type-C connector, microphone opening, and headphone jack.

The LED light is hidden in the speaker grille below.

The 5X's back has a large, ridged camera with dual LED lights and a laser rangefinder that helps the camera focus quickly. The circle below the camera is the new Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader.

We started dismantling from the back cover and slowly pried the back cover with a paddle along the gap between the back cover and the middle frame.

Unlike many phones today, the Nexus 5X has no adhesive between the back cover and the middle frame.

After removing the back cover, we can carefully observe the Nexus 5X's middle frame and battery and other accessories.

The back cover has an NFC antenna, MIMO, WiFi antenna and GPS antenna. Inside the back cover there is information such as body code.

The 5X uses a 2700mAh battery. Unfortunately, this battery is connected to the motherboard via a cable and cannot be replaced.

We can remove the plastic cover on the middle frame by screwing the screws on the middle frame. There are 10 screws on the middle frame.

Take down the plastic cover on the sub-board, we can see the sub-board.

Remove the plastic cover on the motherboard.

We use a crowbar to remove the fingerprint reader. This is the new Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader.

Take a close look at this Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader. It is connected to the motherboard via contacts.

After unplugging the cable, the battery can be removed using a crowbar. There are some viscose bonds below.

This is a 3.8V 2700mAh lithium-ion battery produced by LG.

After unplugging the cable, the camera can be removed. We are very interested in this 12.3 million camera with a unit area of 1.55μm.

After removing the camera, we found that this camera is a camera module made up of Sony's IMX377 sensor and F2.0 lens. The IMX377 sensor has 12.3 million pixels and a large unit area of 1.55 μm. However, this camera is not equipped with optical image stabilization. Google believes that the sensor has such a large unit area that it does not need to be equipped with optical image stabilization.

Unplug the cable to remove the front camera.

We thought that the Nexus 5X is a common three-stage design, but in fact the Nexus 5X is not a motherboard, a sub-board, but a one-piece designed circuit board.

After unplugging all the cables, we can remove the motherboard. The lower part of the motherboard contains only components such as the USB Type-C connector and the microphone for the call. Like the LG G4, the Nexus 5X's USB Type-C interface is soldered to the motherboard. As such an easily damaged component, soldering on the motherboard increases the difficulty of maintenance.

Unlike the USB Type-C jack, the Nexus 5X's headphone jack features a contact design that is easily repaired if damaged.

The end of our dismantling of the Nexus 5X was over, and the old rule was a family portrait. iFixit rated the Nexus 5X with a score of 7 (10 is the easiest to repair). This is a very good score. Many parts have been modularized and replaced if damaged. Unlike Apple's products that use special screw screws, the Nexus 5X uses standard Phillips screws and does not require special tools to repair. Top-level configuration, excellent appearance, compared to the obvious progress of the previous photo, as well as the original Google system to enjoy the first time, if you are a Nexus fan, then act quickly.
