The Japanese government has included LED lighting as a criterion to light up the LED industry

A few days ago, Japanese lighting experts issued a statement at the Taipei International Convention Center that “LED Trends and Standardization Trends in Japan” mentioned that the LED's luminous efficiency is 7-8 times that of incandescent lamps, plus Japan’s 2012 full ban on incandescent lighting. The light, once the popularity of LED lighting, will reduce 3.4 million tons of carbon dioxide each year, no doubt adding a boost to the Kyoto Protocol's carbon emissions reduction.

The LED luminous efficiency will reach 150lm/W in 2015, and the price of lamps and lanterns will drop by more than 30%.

Under the report, in the market structure of Japanese lighting fixtures in 2020, the proportion of LED lighting in the Japanese lighting market will increase from 0.8% in 2008 and 8% in 2015 to 25% in 2020. The growth rate is quite fast. . In addition, HF variable-frequency fluorescent lamps also maintained their advantages from 40% in 2008 to 70% in 2020.

Magnetic Fluorescent Lamps that previously had a substantial market share will no longer be used after 2020. The main reason is that due to the continuous improvement of LED luminous efficiency, it is expected that the LED luminous efficiency will reach 150lm/W in 2015, which is much larger than the progress of fluorescent lamps. Under this development, the price of LED lighting in 2015 was also reduced by one third compared to 2009, which is more acceptable to consumers. Under various conditions, Japan can also achieve the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 20% by 2020.

Therefore, regardless of the short-term or medium-term and long-term goals, the government will consider the development of LED technology, in addition to short-term incentives such as household appliances environmental protection points to attract consumers to buy environmentally friendly and energy-saving products, in addition to long-term development in LED technology, LED lighting international standardization . For example, in May 2010, Japan re-enacted the Electrical Appliance Safety Act and clearly defined the power supply, voltage, and fixed frequency of electronic light-emitting devices (LEDs, OLED lighting devices). The relevant formal provisions are scheduled to be released before Q1 2011 and will be implemented as soon as July 2011. However, for LED lighting fixtures, the current specification object includes only electric spherical lighting, that is, lamp-type lighting is outside the specification object. It is expected that the features of lamp-type lighting and LED-specific long-life performance will be added to this specification in the future.

Take the spherical LED lighting specification as an example. The LED lighting is a non-specific electrical appliance. However, the DC power supply device is a specific electrical appliance. The PSE mark is required on the product. All products that belong to a specific electrical appliance catalog must enter the Japanese market and must be certified by a third-party manufacturer certification body authorized by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and have a diamond-shaped PSE logo on the label. Instead of specific electrical appliances, companies express themselves in a self-declared manner in accordance with the requirements of the Japanese Electrical Appliance Safety Law and list circular PSE marks.

Lamp-type LED lighting not included in the standard, the Japanese government hopes that the industry will restrain itself

Although the current electrical appliance safety law does not include lamp-type LED lighting, the Japanese government still hopes that companies can self-restrict themselves in terms of performance and safety and form a “industry specification” that is not expressly specified. All requirements for weights below 500 grams, insulation distances, etc., are all expected to be part of the industry's specifications. In addition, there are a lot of precautions for the lighting equipment renovation, including the transformation of the equipment and the transformation of the owner’s information and responsibility; and the guidance lights, emergency lighting, and explosion-proof lights are all not included in the list of refitting appliances. At the same time, the Japanese government also requires that the power ballasts and wires should be considered for years of use and replaced on a regular basis.

Global warming has become one of the world’s concerns. The reduction of carbon emissions or the reduction of electricity consumption has also become a goal that countries are trying to achieve. Energy-saving and carbon-reducing household electrical appliances also began to be favored by consumers. Countries began to set specifications for LED lighting devices, and will also light up the future of LED lighting manufacturers.
