LED lighting output reached 2 trillion yuan in 2020

Bai Jiansheng, general manager of Philips Group in Taiwan, pointed out that Philips has been operating in the lighting industry for more than 100 years. The outsiders believe that the company's enthusiasm for LED lighting is not high, but in fact, 20% of Philips Lighting's revenue in the second quarter of this year comes from LED lighting. (Excluding LED epitaxy, package revenue), will exceed 20% in the second half of this year. This figure exceeds the general level of global LED lighting that accounts for only 10% to 15% of the overall lighting penetration rate. Philips has determined that LED is the trend of mainstream lighting sources, and Philips currently has a global market share of over 20% in LED lighting, which has exceeded Philips' market share in traditional lighting (about 15%).

Over the years, Philips has continued to organize transformations, withdrawing TVs, semiconductors, monitors, etc., but it still maintains a lighting industry that has been in business for a century. The new lighting market that Philips is focusing on is precisely the market that is still more than the size of the traditional lighting market. According to Philips’ industry survey, the current global lighting market scale (including LED lighting systems, traditional lighting, LED light sources, and traditional light sources) is approximately 65 billion euros (approximately NT$1 trillion). By 2020, the overall market size will expand to 100 billion euros (approximately NT$4 million), of which LED lighting systems accounted for more than 50%, up to NT$2 trillion, and the other 2 trillion yuan included traditional lighting, LED light sources, and traditional light sources.

From Philips' analysis of the lighting industry trends, we can see that the most promising potential of LED lighting is LED lighting systems that require creative design and integration of energy; and LED lighting sources that emphasize technology mass production (including LED epitaxy, packaging, and light engines) since 2011 It will grow rapidly in the year, and it will enter a mature and stable period by 2015, becoming a market for price competition and production efficiency. Bai Jiansheng said that Philips is aware of the advantages of the company in addition to industry trends, and Philips is therefore positioning itself to use brand value and develop innovative LED lighting systems.

Bai Jiansheng also frankly admitted that competition in the era of LED lighting is fiercer. LED bulbs are the lowest price barrier for killing the battlefield. Philips has also attached importance to this, but it has only driven the rapid growth of Philips LED lighting. Bai Jiansheng observed that the LED lighting industry in Taiwan now has better capabilities than it was two years ago. Therefore, Philips also has different levels of cooperation with many companies in Taiwan. Currently, LED lighting companies in Taiwan can rapidly transform to meet rapid changes.
