LED epitaxial / chip factory Huashang Optoelectronics (6289) recently signed a patent-proprietary technology license agreement with Shanxi Changzhi Huashang Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. Changzhi Huashang Optoelectronics uses the patents and know-how as agreed in the contract to manufacture, use and sell related products in the mainland. Huashang received a premium of RMB 270 million (about NT$1.3 billion) in installments, obtained a 40% stake in the joint venture company, and will recognize most of the premiums.
Huashang will receive a premium of RMB 270 million in installments, of which RMB 120 million (about NT$ 576 million) will be used as a 40% stake in Changzhi Huashang Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., and another RMB 150 million (about NT$ 712 million). In the next two years, the revenue will be recognized and the profit per share will be approximately 2.2 yuan.
Huashang executives said that the Changzhi Huashang Optoelectronics Plant has been completed and it is expected that 15 MOCVD machines will be introduced before the end of this year. However, due to the delay in the delivery of the machine, the target will not be achieved by the end of the year. However, the long-term production target is to import more than 60 units within 5 years. In September, Huashang announced that it has signed a contract with the Wujiang Economic Development Zone Management Committee of Jiangsu Province to invest 30 million US dollars to build a new LED epitaxial plant in Wujiang. The planned number of main machines will reach 150 MOCVD machines, and 30 units will be imported in 2010. Due to the delay in the delivery of the machine, the target will not be achieved by the end of the year.
Huashang's consolidated revenue in September was 163 million yuan, an increase of 24% year-on-year and 21% year-on-year. Since the company only accounts for 30% of high-brightness blue LEDs, it is less affected by South Korea's large-scale expansion of blue LEDs. Yuan LED demand is booming, order visibility is high, and Q4 single-month revenue is not expected to be lower than September.
